College football coaches have become more and more active on social media. They use social media to communicate with potential recruits over direct messaging, engaging on posts, etc.

That’s why watching what you’re posting on your social media is essential. Coaches will presume that what you post and how you talk on social media is how you are going to behave when you get to their campus.

If you’re constantly posting vulgar and offensive things, coaches will pass you right up and go to the next recruit.

It won’t matter how good you are at football. College football is a business.

Football coaches’ jobs are determined by who they bring onto campus.

If football coaches think you’re a potential risk, based on what they’ve seen on your social media, you will miss out on your chances of playing college football.

That’s why we want to share with you some tips to help you get scouted for football with these social media tips for all football players looking to get recruited to play college football.

1. Think Of Your Social Media Like A Job Resume

A college football coach will look at your social media at some point during the recruiting process. Whether this is before or after watching your highlight film, you want to think of your social media as a first impression of you.

If there are things on your social media that your parents, grandparents, or girlfriend’s parents wouldn’t approve of, then you probably should go through your social media to delete some things.

Even after you make your first impression with the coaches, you want to always be on your best behavior on social media because all schools will have people monitoring the social media accounts of their prospective athletes.

2. Always Think Before You Post

As we stated above, you never want to post things on your social media accounts that your parents, grandparents, or girlfriends’ parents wouldn’t approve of. You may be heated at the moment or there is a troll you might want to reply to in frustration, but you need to be in control of your emotions at all times.

Don’t use social media to vent or complain about your current circumstances. You also don’t want to post anything sexist, vulgar, offensive, racist, etc. Also, be professional in whatever you post. Don’t use “wussup dawg” or “ur rite dood”. Use proper English to show the college football recruits that you’re an intelligent student-athlete.

3. If You Have Anything Bad On Your Social Media, Delete It ASAP

There may be things you posted years ago that you forgot about. You don’t want to be caught in a bind where someone digs through your entire social media history and finds something from years ago.

Take the time to go through your entire social media history to see if there’s anything that needs to be deleted ASAP. If you neglect this step, and you get caught and a coach asks about a specific post that shouldn’t have been posted, don’t play the victim card.

Take responsibility for your actions and explain to the coach how much you have grown from being immature in the past, and it will never happen again. But like we said, take the time now to delete anything that shouldn’t be there so that situation never occurs.
