How Football Recruiting Camps Can Help You Get A Scholarship

Written By: Gridiron Elite Training

Besides sending out your highlight film and contacting coaches over social media and email, you’ll learn how football camps can help you get a college football scholarship.

Attending college football camps is one of the simplest ways for high school football players to increase their exposure and showcase their skills to college football scouts.

As a high school football student-athlete, you need to be realistic and zone in on which college football programs will be the best fit for you. Of course, you may want to attend an SEC or top 5 significant programs. There is nothing wrong with setting goals and shooting for the stars.

That said, it’s good to lay out all your options and research which schools will give you the best opportunity to play college football.

Also, you want to choose which university will be the right fit for you to attend your four years of school to obtain your degree and succeed.

Why Go To Football Recruiting Showcases?

Football camps for high school football players can help you obtain a football scholarship because it allows the coaches at that school to get an in-person look at you so they can see your football skills and athleticism up front. They will also be looking at how you conduct yourself, react to plays, work hard, and leadership skills.

Football camps have increased in popularity, and many college football coaches won’t offer athletes until they see them up front in person. That’s why you need to attend as many football camps as possible

If you’re able to, we recommend attending as many college football camps as you possibly can. This allows you to learn what you need to improve and how you stack up against the other athletes recruited at your position. It also allows you to connect with other football players and coaches to stay in contact and schedule future talks and visits with the coach.

Suppose you’re blessed enough to have received a scholarship offer from a university before attending their camp. In that case, you will most likely receive an official visit for the coaches to meet your family and you in person to show you around the campus and to get to know you better.

If you haven’t received a scholarship yet, the coaches will invite you to attend their camp so they can further evaluate you in person to ensure you’re the right fit for their program.

Why Attending Football Camps For High School Football Players Is Important

In our experience, attending college football recruiting camps will get you better at football. Not only will you be put through a combine to test your numbers, but you will be put through drills at your position and run one-on-one to compete against your opponent on the other side of the ball.

For example, you’ll be put through one-on-one routes vs. defensive backs if you’re a wide receiver. The same applies to the lineman up front and the running backs and linebackers.

By competing against other recruits with the same goal as you, trying to make it to college football, you can see where you stack up against the players in your position.

You will learn new techniques at your position that you didn’t know about before. Also, you will learn what you need to improve on to get a football scholarship.

What Is The Price To Attend Football Recruiting Camps?

The price of attending a football camp will vary. Generally speaking, the average one-day football recruiting base will cost anywhere or below $100.

If you’re attending football recruiting showcases that are longer than one day, then be prepared to pay more of course. For the top-level camps that last up to a week-long, you’re going to be paying to cover the expenses for your room, food, and equipment costs.

Make sure you do your research on those camps, though. Just because the price of a camp is higher than most doesn’t mean it’s worth it.

You want to make sure that college coaches can attend or that they have a history of getting football players scholarships, specifically from their camp. If they are recording the camp and sending it out to their connections at college football programs, then by all means go for it.

We still recommend the best camps to attend are at the university itself. That way, you can meet all the coaches and showcase your football skills directly in front of them.

Will Attending Football Recruiting Camps Held By Colleges Really Help You Get A College Football Scholarship?

Attending a college football camp is a significant step for you to do if you’re wanting to play football in college. If you’re looking to play college football on scholarship, then you need to prepare yourself to attend a couple of football camps and showcases.

You need to prepare yourself with the proper training in the offseason by working on your speed, agility, and explosiveness, so you’re ready for every football camp you attend.

As a high school athlete, it’s easy to get sucked into just focusing on getting stronger and only lifting weights. Of course, you should never neglect your strength training for football, but if you’re not working on developing your explosive speed and agility, then you’ll be a step behind when attending camps.

We know a few players that train at a local sports performance training facility that was told they were no longer on the coach’s radar due to their tight hips. Don’t let this be you!

Preparing your athleticism in the offseason will get you on the right track for a long successful football career. By attending football camps, you’ll learn new techniques and moves to help you on the football field.

If you’re at the youth level and looking to improve your skills, there are many youth football camps you can attend to increase your exposure and get a jumpstart on your football career.

Make sure you choose the football camp that will be the right fit for you and will help you increase your exposure, improve your football skills, and help you get to that next level.
